Real Madrid president Florentino Perez used the club's general assembly to defend controversial coach Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho has continued to attract headlines in Spain for his conduct in and away from the dug-out and was widely criticised for jabbing a finger in the eye of Barcelona assistant Tito Vilanova during the Spanish Super Cup last month.
Several Madrid members spoke this morning of their unease at having the Portuguese in charge and expressed their concern that his antics were damaging the club's reputation worldwide, but Perez was unequivocal in his backing.
"We believe in this team and in the best coach in the world: Jose Mourinho," he said.
